Fun with Sam and Where Have I Been?.....

Hello all my friends, I am sorry that I have been MIA, I had a few family issues to clear up before I could get my head back on straight and start posting again, but that is a whole different story.   I have been sewing/quilting, just a little bit.  I have made a few projects, nothing earth shattering, but I have something special to share with you....my daughter, Samantha, is 10 years old and she was watching me at my sewing machine and guess what...
Yep! she is now sewing just like mama!  Can you guess what it is?
 Here is another hint...
Yep, you guessed it...her first pillow, great foray into straight line sewing and she had a blast.  All I had to do is mark where she needed to sew and set up her little Janome and off she went!  I taught her to back stitch, trim the corners and then turn it inside out and push out the corners and of course stuff it.  Then I had to whip stitch the top closed for her, no biggie, it was so much fun to watch and just look at that smile!
She liked it so much she made another one, this time for her girlfriend, Rayley, who lives in Florida!  I, of course helped her applique the cute animals on the front, which, by the way was my first attempt at needleturn...yikes!  I need lots of practice!  But I loved doing it.  I taught her how to backstitch some letters on it....

Isn't it precious!  We then put the pillow together and this is what we got...
Not too bad Eh?

Now, as far as what I have been working on, just some small projects, you know, the feel-good kind/quickies if you will...  practicing applique...learning the blanket stitch and working with flannel and wool...
I have some others that I have been working on too...this one is for my kitchen, both the reindeer and the little cabin are Wooden Bear Designs, I just love them

I too am working on a pillow, I just roughly laid it out, not stitched down yet..obviously.  It is a Jan Patek design, so cute, I love the cabin, it reminds me of my own, with the tall pine tree to the side.

Anyway, there you have it.  I promise not to be a stranger for that long again.  I hate it when life gets in the way of my quilting/sewing, but I guess for the time that I have been "gone" it truly was a special time to spend with my daughter teaching her the same passion that I love.

Come follow me I am linking up with Sew Fresh "Lets Bee Social"http://sewfreshquilts.blogspot.ca/p/linky-party-fun.html
